Hi! I’m Kelly. I hope to inspire you to get out in nature and explore more.
I’ve always enjoyed day hikes but it wasn’t til recently I realized how much they physically and mentally benefit me. For the past two years I’ve worked from home. While great, I am horrible at making myself go outside. For too long I would spend almost all day inside my old farmhouse. Once we started going for walks regularly in the winter did I realize how much the sun and exercise does for me.
The Mild America blog is for anyone:
- who just started out hiking but wants to work to more than a day hiker
- who doesn’t want to wait for retirement to finally travel
- who often fantasizes about getting away from it all
- wanting to take more weekend getaways
- needs inspiration
So, now this blog may not be useful to the following readers:
- anyone who dislikes dirt
- looking for non-US destination ideas
- hoping to see cool pictures from a new place every week
In my everyday life, I’ve been married 19 years and working at the same job title for 18 years. I’m a Tennessee native that has lived in Nashville for 12 years. We currently have only 1 beagle and a cat.
My husband and I have traveled thousands of miles. We’ve traveled by car, motorcycle, train, with a truck and travel trailer, and occasionally by plane. Most of our trips have included hiking, even Yosemite in February.
Hiking makes me feel strong while nature soothes my swirling mind. While I have no intention of through-hiking the Appalachian trail, I do want to work up to a week-long trip. I have much to learn to get there though.
If you’re just starting out hiking or are an old pro, please join me as I start my journey. I hope others will find my hard work inspiring or at least amusing.
I look forward to sharing with you and would love it if you would stop by and say hey on Facebook and Instagram. I’m still really new so there may not be a lot going on yet, but I’ll get there!
